| Pit bull owners come and go, some grew tired of the breed and some didn’t have the time to raise pit bulls anymore, yet we continued, meeting new friends along the way. It was not until February 2004 that we formally created the Club, the Western Mindanao Pitbull Terrier Club(WMPTC), it started with a small closely knit group of friends who share the same interests; the love for pit bulls be it showtype, gamebred or bully types. The group went out scouring the city for other pit bull owners who might want to join the club. We went from vet clinics to vet clinics and from house to house, it wasn’t an easy feat but the group did it for the love of the breed and for the pure joy and excitement of seeing other pit bulls and their owners, we were establishing camaraderie while constantly inviting the pit bull owners to join us in our regular “pit bull walk” and gatherings.
The Club now is steadily growing, it’s a small group but a strong one at that. Indeed the club breathe on friendship and brotherhood that packs with discipline and respect to each other that make up a strong and organized club. Through the years we also encountered some humps and bumps quite enough to destroy the club’s common interests but then we were never faced by it and it never stopped us from pursuing what we are enjoying right now having the first ever pit bull club in the Western Mindanao and the only one at that. The club advocates responsible pit bull ownership, preserving the pit bull breed in form and in character and most importantly we value members’ brotherhood and friendship… truly a unique club, this will continue to exist as long as there are one or two individuals who are dedicated and determined to pursue the club's ideals all for the passion and the betterment of the greatest breed man has ever created; The AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER.
